Cannabis Warning
I am currently a serving police officer based at **(STATION)**.
In my role as a police officer I have come into contact with the controlled substance CANNABIS on many occasions. I can identify the drug in many of its forms.
On **(DATE)**, at **(TIME)**. I carried out a stop and search on a person I now know to be **(NAME)**, **(DATE_OF_BIRTH)**.
As a result of the search, I discovered a small amount of cannabis.
I produce this as my exhibit **(EXHIBIT)**.
The defendant confirmed this substance to be CANNABIS. I can confirm this to be CANNABIS, due to its appearance texture and smell. I completed a PNC and CMS check and confirmed that the defendant had no previous convictions for drug possession, or previous cautions or cannabis Warnings.
At **(TIME)**, I then gave **(NAME)** a formal CANNABIS warning, by saying: This offence is being dealt with by a formal warning. A record of this will be made and this offence will be recorded against your name as a detected crime. This does not mean you will have a criminal record. A further possession offence may result in your arrest, prosecution and you receiving a criminal record..
**(NAME)**confirmed they understood the warning. This item was booked into the property/ drug store reference **(PROPERTY_REF)**. I produce this statement as my original notes at **(TIME)**.
